2020 Alpine Loop Gran Fondo #MyGranFondo Challenge fundraising participants have collectively raised $8,374.39 for the Cancer Journeys Foundation Prostate Cancer Awareness Project. This is a meaningful victory with life-saving possibilities.

The Prostate Cancer Awareness Project aims to significantly increase prostate cancer survivorship by dramatically increasing the rate of early detection, with the objective that that no man experiences a surprise, post-metastasis prostate cancer diagnosis.

As the presenting sponsor of the Alpine Loop Gran Fondo, Cancer Journeys Foundation shows its dedication to cancer survivorship, raising awareness about prostate cancer screening and early detection, and encouraging healthy lifestyle choices. The organization hosts the annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Project King and Queen of the Mountains Contests, awarding winners jerseys to age group and overall champions in a variety of categories. In 2020 the contest continued with a revised format. Winners are being announced and a virtual awards presentation will soon be shared.

In a message from the event’s virtual start line, Cancer Journeys Foundation CEO Robert Hess extended his thanks to all who rode in the event and participated in the fundraising efforts, emphasizing how important these activities are for the mission of prostate cancer awareness. “The conversations you have with the men in your life, in your groups, about prostate cancer, and taking an annual test; that is incredibly valuable to what The Prostate Cancer Awareness Project is trying to accomplish.”

Through partnership with the Alpine Loop Gran Fondo, The Prostate Cancer Awareness Project has funded and maintained ProstateTracker.org a free and anonymous PSA tracking tool. Every participant and additional fundraiser has shared in this effort and are invited to use and share ProtateTracker.org with all the men in their lives.

A complete listing of fundraising participants will be compiled and also celebrated in an upcoming multimedia project.
