2018 Alpine Loop Gran Fondo Photos

Photography highlights from the 2018 Alpine Loop Gran Fondo are now available.

The Bruce Buckley Photography team was onsite capturing images from the early morning hours, on course, at the Porsche Red Carpet Finish Line Photo Booth, the Cancer Journeys Prostate Cancer Awareness Project podium, and all around the finish line festivities. They’ve got thousands of images. Soon a full gallery will be posted.

Photos from the Porsche Red Carpet Finish Line Photo Booth and Podium (coming soon!) will be available for free download in galleries uploaded to Facebook.

We are as excited as you are in anticipation of reliving the incredible experience of the 2018 Alpine Loop Gran Fondo. If you have photos to share, please use the hashtags #AlpineLoopGranFondo on social media, tag Alpine Loop Gran Fondo on Facebook, and tag @JBsGranFondo on Twitter and Instagram.

2018 Results King and Queen of the Mountains

Results from the Cancer Journeys Foundation King and Queen of the Hill and Prostate Cancer Awareness Project King and Queen of the Mountains contests are posted at SVE Timing.

At the event, King and Queen of the Hill winners (first place on Mole Hill timed segment, 5-year age groups, Valley View Challenge and Mt Solon Metric Century) were recognized and awarded a pair of 2018 Alpine Loop Gran Fondo socks by Ridge Supply.

King and Queen of the Mountains winners (top-3, 5-year age groups, Alpine Loop and combined Shenandoah Mountain routes) were recognized and awarded a Prostate Cancer Awareness Project jersey and 2018 Alpine Loop Gran Fondo socks by Ridge Supply. To remove professional riders from their age group categories, those entrants ages are listed as 99 and are included in the overall results.

Couples Conquer the Mountains contest results will be posted very soon. In the excitement of the day, this report was overlooked. Awards will be delivered to the top-3 teams in this contest.

If you have corrections or questions about the timing data, please submit those inquiries here.

Advantage Physical Therapy at Finish Line Festival

Advantage Physical Therapy will be at the Finish Line Festival of the 2018 Alpine Loop Gran Fondo to provide on-site stretching and manual therapy techniques to assist recovery for participants. If you have tight muscles or tired joints following your big ride, head to the Advantage Physical Therapy tents where physical therapists and athletic trainers will ready to help.

As a long-time supporter of the charitable mission of the event, Advantage Physical Therapy will donate all tips or money collected for their services directly back to the cause.

Front Country Presented by The Myrias Group at Alpine Loop Gran Fondo

“In the bluegrass world, musicians tend to define themselves by their tradition and discipline. But Front Country is defined by its no-rules approach.” – NPR Music

Presented by The Myrias Group, Front Country will perform on the Hotel Appalachia Stage at the Finish Line Festival of the 2018 Alpine Loop Gran Fondo. Listen to Front Country’s latest album Other Love Songs and get ready for their skillful, uniquely talented and energetic performance on September 30.

An acoustic band born in the land of tech innovation, Front Country was never going to be accepted as an authentic American roots band out of the gate. Cutting their teeth in progressive bluegrass jams in San Francisco’s Mission District and rehearsing in the East Bay, they learned to play roots music their own way, with the tools they had on hand. A mandolinist with a degree in composition and classical guitar. A guitarist trained in rock and world music. A bassist equally versed in jazz and bluegrass. A violinist with technique that could seamlessly hop between honky tonk and electropop. A female lead singer with grit and soul that was also a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. In a wood-paneled country dive bar in the shadow of the San Francisco skyline, Front Country forged a sound hell bent on merging the musical past with the future.

“Lead singer and songwriter for progressive bluegrass band Front Country, Melody Walker is an outspoken force.” – Paste
