Mid Atlantic Timing has published results from the Prostate Cancer Awareness Project King and Queen of the Mountains Contest. Due to an unfortunate occurrence on the course, some timing data was not collected. For notes on the awarding of KOM jerseys, please refer to the following. For access to complete timing data, which differs from the KOM contest as awarded, please follow this link.

The following categories were recognized following the event:
King and Queen of the Hill
5-year age groups – Valley View Challenge

King and Queen of the Hill
5-year age groups – Mt Solon Metric Century

King and Queen of the Mountains
5-year age groups and overall – Shen. Mtn Century and Shen. Mtn Adventure combined
Note: Timing equipment at the summit of KOM #1 was damaged by a vehicle that drove off the shoulder midway through collecting data on these participants. Because of this, some participants will see 00:00:00 for their KOM #1 time. To equalize the impact of this unfortunate event, we chose to remove KOM #1 from the contest when awarding jerseys, instead of only considering only those whose times were recorded. We take this contest very seriously and are disappointed by the incident. In deciding how to recognize the winners, we felt this was the fairest solution. If you recorded your climb on GPS or other device, you are welcome to share that info with Mid Atlantic Timing so the entirety of your participation can be reflected in the data. Updates to KOM #1 will not impact the way the KOM jerseys were awarded.

King and Queen of the Mountians
5-year age groups and overall – Alpine Loop
Note: Timing equipment at the summit of KOM #1 was damaged by a vehicle that drove off the shoulder before every participant in the Alpine Loop route crossed that checkpoint. Because of this, some participants will see 00:00:00 for their KOM #1 time. To address the impact of this unfortunate event, we looked at the data, and saw that those riders who had the consistently fastest times on #2 and #3 were also among the majority of Alpine Loop route participants to cross the summit of KOM before the damage occurred. Because of this, it seemed that the KOM contest would not be significantly altered at the highest placings if we had access to the data that was not able to be recorded. For some of the high age groups, KOM #1 was disregarded for the KOM results. We take this contest very seriously and are disappointed by the incident. In deciding how to recognize the winners, we felt this was a fair solution in keeping with the spirit of the contest. If you recorded your climb on GPS or other device, you are welcome to share that info with Mid Atlantic Timing so the entirely of your participation can be reflected in the data.

Couples Conquering Cancer (and the Mountain)
Note:
This competition was also impacted by the issues facing the Alpine Loop and Shenandoah Mountain Century and Adventure routes data collection atop KOM segment #1. Because of this, we deferred to the results on the Mole Hill Timing Segment. Results are shown below:
