Event director Erin here with an update and some announcements: This year, we’re putting the Alpine Loop Gran Fondo on hold to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of my amazing parents. While I’d hoped to simply shift the event date this year, the late-spring release of the James Madison University football schedule offered no great alternatives that wouldn’t also encroach on other local cycling events that I admire. 2021 routes are ready for download and turn-by-turn event-day use. Route maps for the 2021 Alpine Loop Gran Fondo are viewable on the Routes page. Participants will be notified of any further updates made in advance of the event. To download or print cue sheets, click “View Full Version” or “Send to Device” in the upper left corner of the desired route frame on the routes page. 2021 Volunteer Opportunities
Community, camaraderie and encouragement are at the heart of the Alpine Loop Gran Fondo. Just like riders, volunteer participants are a big part of this event! (Sign up opportunities will continued to be added and updated through the first week of September. Check back for live links, coming soon.) From pre-event preparations, packet distribution, venue setup, rest station excitement, and post-ride cleanup, volunteers arrive with many special talents to share and important roles to fill. The 2021 Alpine Loop Gran Fondo will take place Sunday, September 26, 2021. We’re considering this our comeback year – focused on hosting a great ride and setting the stage for an awesome adventure. Some things will look different than the past, but we can’t wait to welcome you to share in the excitement of challenging routes, charitable fundraising, and an all around great day of cycling camaraderie.
